Engineers AustraliaHello – Bulla – Namo – Talofa – Greetings from the South West Pacific.

During the first ten years of Kramer Group’s development, I recall introducing myself as Frank Kramer - “professional engineer” first, “Papua New Guinean” second and finally “businessman and entrepreneur”. Today it would be more accurate to refer to myself as a “professional engineer of the Pacific”.

I grew up on a Catholic Mission station in Madang, Papua New Guinea, attended High School in Queensland, completed a Science degree in PNG and then with the help of a Canadian Commonwealth Scholarship graduated with an Engineering degree out of Canada in early 1974.

My first two years professional experience were spent with a small Consulting Engineering Firm in Port Moresby. Then I spent two more years building airports, roads and bridges with a construction company, much of this time in remote parts of PNG.

I founded Kramer Group in mid 1978, nearly 30 years ago, with a lot of help from a distinguished Queensland Engineer, Graham McNamara. Graham remained as my professional mentor until some 10 years ago when he retired from consulting engineering. Today Graham still lives near our Toowong Office in Brisbane and in between his many cruises and other things that retired engineers do, he continues his keen interest in Kramer Group with regular social visits to see how we are doing.

I have three wonderful children from a previous marriage; Karla who is in her early twenties and not sure whether she wants to finish off a Business degree or develop her music/singing skills, and Adam & Michael who are twins both in 3rd Year Engineering at University of Queensland. I live in Brisbane with my partner, Carolina, and my three children still live at home with us.
